Why is blasting necessary?
Blasting is generally the most cost effective way break or fragment rocks in the mining industry, road development and or widening activities and the like.
How is it ensured that the blasting is done safely and properly so that no damage occurs to nearby community and or private structures?
Seismographs were installed to monitor every blast in order to ensure that the blasting activities is operating within the acceptable parameters and below damaging levels. We adjust to our operations needs accordingly as we get closer to existing homes and the associated vibrations increases.
Does the region or municipality inspect the blasting operation?
Blasting logs for all blasting operations are recorded and submitted to corresponding regional Mines and Geo-Sciences Bureau (MGB) and provincial Philippine National Police (PNP) for monitoring purposes. Inspection is conducted regularly by MGB and PNP.
How does your company suppress dust during drilling activity in open pit?
Dust collectors are installed to the drill rigs to collect and minimize dust emission.
What is production drilling?
Production drilling is when the drilling activity aims to provide holes that would be utilized in the blasting activity that is a part of the clients’ production cycle. The holes drilled are referred to as blast holes.
What is pre blast survey?
It is conducted to document nearby structure to the blasting zone. Documentation may contain foundations or other part of the structure for monitoring and safety purposes.
What law promotes strict implementation of safety and health in Drilling and Blasting works?
DENR Administrative Order 2000 – 98 also known as Mine Safety and Health Standards, Standards Rules and Regulations of the Occupational Safety and Health Standards under Article 162 of the Labor Code of the Philippines, Environmental Standards and other applicable laws and requirements.
When do you need blasting at a road development or road widening project?
When blasting is more cost efficient rather than utilizing heavy equipments involved in such projects.
